啲廣告成日話：「科技可以縮小這個世界，拉近人與人之間的距離」云云。但事實上呢？
有位好朋友，去年夏天負笈美國。臨行前，大家還搞了個唱K送別會。會上他曾道：「我去幾個月之後，聖誕放假又會返來，所以好快又可以見面。」
當時有人問他：「點可以搵到你呀？」隨即答道：「我個香港手機號碼會繼續用，可以打來，不過Roaming（漫遊）好貴，最好用Email啦！另外，我都會用MSN Messenger同Google Talk的，一定搵到我喎！」
聽落，科技似乎真的可以拉近香港與美國之間的距離。想起十幾年前我在美國唸書時，與香港朋友的聯絡方法就只得兩種：IDD與信件。但當年港美之間的IDD每分鐘港幣十二元六角，作為學生實在負擔不起；寫信嘛，寄空郵一來一回最快兩周。那時，才真的深刻體會到那種分隔兩地、天各一方的距離感。
話說回來，好朋友離港後，幾個月來大家僅通過一記電話。電郵嘛，一隻手數晒咁多。至於甚麼MSN Messenger、Google Talk，則從來沒有見他上來過；我還是因為他那番話而特地安裝Google Talk的，但Invite了他之後，一直沒有回覆！
科技可以拉近人與人之間的距離？放屁。
