那日在一家水族店瀏覽,見到以下一件小事,有點感慨。
有位客人在一個魚缸看中一款觀賞小魚,勞煩店員幫他撈魚。店員一邊撈,客人一邊選,當然想選出一尾最合眼緣又生生猛猛的啦!
當時,我就在櫥窗外,旁觀整個撈魚的過程。只見店員用一個小魚網,一尾一尾地撈給客人看,客人不喜,就把魚放回缸中重新再撈。重覆撈了好幾次,客人都看不中心頭好。
誰知,有一尾小魚在過程中掙扎,身子彈出魚網外,跌到貨架上!只見牠在貨架上翻了幾翻,等待救援;然而,店員卻完全沒有「拯救」牠的意欲,任由牠在貨架上奄奄一息,只繼續為客人撈其他的魚。
我覺得很訝異!在生意角度來看,就算客人最終選了一尾合心水的魚,這單生意的成本也增大了一倍;明明店員可以救回那尾小魚以保住貨物的,為何不救?
在人道角度而言,觀賞魚也是一個生命,如此見死不救,會否太過殘忍?甚或店員有機會觸犯虐畜條例?
再想遠些:我們作為大企業的小僱員,其實與缸中小魚無異,一旦有事,僱主會高抬貴手相救嗎?就像保安公司突然結業,又有上千尾小魚等待救援了!
