「書展」和「漫畫節」，已經成為香港暑假的兩大節慶。每年七月書展完畢，例牌一星期後漫畫節就會開幕。其實，兩者「本是同根生」，也曾經「結婚」，後來卻「離異」。
早年（講緊七十、八十年代）書展乃於大會堂低座舉行，場地和規模與今時今日相去很遠，但卻是免費入場的。然而，當年的書展，「書味」（或稱「文化氣息」）較重，完全沒有「行花市」的感覺。
後來（九十年代中），書展移師灣仔會展，開始收費之餘也愈搞愈大。碰巧香港漫畫業起飛，極需要類似書展這種市場推廣活動，於是「漫畫搭上了書展」；到底是一拍即合，抑或會一拍兩散？
反正是，有漫畫加入的書展，愈搞愈旺，於是出現了開幕前通宵排隊的人龍，以及國際知名的「逼爆玻璃事件」。可喜的是，書展因而極度壯大，成為所謂「文化沙漠」中的每年一場大雨；然可悲的是，書展開始變質，愈來愈不似書展。
終於有一天，漫畫業發覺可以「賣甩」書展，自行搞「漫畫節」，這段「婚姻」就此宣告收場。不過，分手之後，兩者都活得很好，各自各精采。
