若你早上起來，看看各電視台的早晨新聞，總會有一個環節，是由天文台的科學主任，講解一下是日的天氣狀況及數日預測。
如果你是早晨新聞的忠實觀眾，你就會發覺，天文台的科學主任數目相當多；皆因上電視做「騷」的主任天天不同，面孔多到數唔晒。而且，不單止有科學主任，還有高級科學主任、學術主任等等。
以我的理解，他們既然是「科學主任」，其工作該不止是上上電視、報報天氣那麼簡單吧！相信他們也有實則參與天文台的日常天氣預測工作。
那麼，我們經常抱怨說香港天文台的預測不夠準確，是否矛頭就直指這班科學主任呢？是否這些科學主任的預測能力不足、經驗不夠呢？
觀乎一些外國電視台的天氣報告，並不會光依賴當地氣象台所提供的預測，反而會各自聘用一至兩位駐台的 Meteorologist（氣象學者），自行以數據作出該台的天氣預測。於是乎，會出現某台的天氣預測比其他台更準的情況。換句話說，你對某台天氣預測的準確度不滿，大可以轉台，看其他專家的預測。
很可惜，香港的市民就沒有這個「轉台」的選擇了。（續完）
