近年香港人養貓養狗，都講求血統，非名種犬不養；其實這種態度是十分膚淺的。
我們通常把本地的混種犬，統稱為「唐狗」，這個名字本身就含有貶意，與「番狗」相對（「番狗」即外國入口名種犬）；彷彿「養番狗」才是高級，「養唐狗」就比較低檔，有點等同是隨便自街邊拾隻狗回來養的意思。
其實，「養唐狗」絕對不低級，混種犬的主人應該感到自豪。
在遺傳學、優生學的角度而言，生物必須透過DNA的交換（即「混種」、「混血」），才會生出更加優良的品種。正如所謂Mix的女孩子，不管是哪兩國籍的混血兒，一般都會又高佻又漂亮；同樣地，混種犬亦應是較佳的品種，沒理由要受到歧視。
曾經在某個電視節目中，見過釵h漂亮的混種犬，例如狼狗跟牧羊狗的後代、柴犬跟雪橇犬的後代、斑點狗跟比高犬的後代等等，其身體特徵都十分獨特，全部都是只此一隻、獨一無二的！換言之，閣下家中的「唐狗」，也有這種獨特性，可以說比名種犬還要珍貴！
另外，釵h「養唐狗」的人都會發現，混種犬的性情通常都比較純品，又乖巧又易養，這絕對是一大優點，亦是對狗主的一大佳音。
