現在的手機，可儲存的資料甚多，除最基本的親友電話地址、生日日期之外，其他如備忘錄、行事曆、MP3 音樂、手機拍下的照片 / 短片等，都佔據了我們手機內的記憶空間，成為個人檔案。
有試過最慘通的經歷嗎？就是遺失了手機。無端端要花錢買新手機固然肉痛，但最不可彌補的卻是手機內的個人檔案，可能是某個你難以再碰到的朋友的電話號碼，或者上次約會時的一幅靚靚合照；若果你沒有把手機內的這類個人檔案經常備份（Backup），一旦失機時就連這些東西也永遠失去了！
說到 Backup，有人會把手機的資料備份到 PDA 上。但個人覺得，PDA 這東西本身亦不大可靠，也是十分容易故障或遺失的。當然，PDA 的資料亦須定期備份到電腦內啦！之不過，小弟就經歷過電腦硬碟突然死亡的事故，見過鬼自然就怕黑，自此對電腦內儲存的東西信心全失。
於是乎，是否又應定期把電腦內的資料，備份到光碟上呢？如此備份，由手機到 PDA 到電腦到光碟，看似萬無一失，但如果最後光碟刮花了不能讀呢？
可能，最好的備份工具，是最原始的紙和筆。
