十幾年前，購買一部手提電話的代價是一萬多港元，擁有手提電話一時成為富貴的象徵，故手機便有了「大哥大」的俗稱。
現在嘛，最便宜的手機售價不到一千元，五、六千元就可以買到頂級的最新型號。手機絕對是「不值錢」，擁有它也沒有甚麼富貴可言。
幾年前，當 DVD 機剛推出時，它的售價大約是四、五千元；DVD 影碟嘛，因產量不多，亦大約要二、三百元一片。
現在？最便宜的 DVD 機五百元就有交易，不計質素的話更平都有！至於 DVD 碟，通街都有十多元一片的平價版（絕不是盜版啊！），七、八十元一片的已經有質素保證，上百元一片的就定必十分精美了。
類似的高科技產品，貶值得十分厲害，幾乎已成定律：初推出一兩年是高價產品，四五年後開始降價平民化，十年八年則全面普及而貶值數倍，十萬變一萬，一萬變一千。
最近的例子是等離子電視。約兩年前，它絕對是「富貴」產品，動輒十萬八萬元一部。現在嘛，赫然發現兩萬多元就可以買到，且更是日本幾間大廠的出品。相信不出兩年，它們就會下試萬元關口！你未買的話，不妨一等！
