最近有部西片上畫，香港譯名為《亞歷山大帝》。這位世界歷史上著名人物的名字，無人不知，但不知怎地每次看到這個片名，總覺怪怪的。
這位馬其頓君王的稱號原為「Alexander the Great」，當中「Alexander」音譯為「亞歷山大」，而「the Great」則譯為「大帝」，是故自中學時代讀世界史認識此君開始，就一直以「亞歷山大大帝」相稱，這也是中文課本、歷史書上對他的正式稱謂。
但為何今次該片的戲名，居然會少了一個「大」字？到底其意思是「亞歷山大」「帝」，抑或是「亞歷山」「大帝」？兩者都不通吧！如此為了把片名簡短而夾硬減去一字，實在太不合理了。
假使有間中學是為了紀念羅貫中而建校的，那它一定該被稱為「羅貫中中學」，而不能簡化為「羅貫中學」吧！若有日我以自己的名字開一家超級市場，那總會叫做「舒展超超級市場」，而不是「舒展超級市場」吧！
香港片商在翻譯外國片名時，經常花招百出，玩字玩到七彩，被人垢病也是家常便飯了；但像這種「竄改歷史人名」的，實在不能忍受，必須聲討！（未完待續）
