這一代崇尚的英雄人物，已不再是智勇雙全風流倜儻的「占士邦 / 告魯士」類型，也不再是揮汗灑血筋肉至上的「史泰龍 / 辛力加」類型；反而是身材矮小、外表懦弱的小男生。
近年荷里活三大鉅片系列的主角，都是這類小男生。先是《哈利波特》系列中的少年哈利，一副書蟲模樣，經常被人欺凌。但自從得知血脈身世，進入巫師學校修煉，這才發揮出自己的潛能，開始踏上英雄之路。
再而是《魔戒》系列中的佛洛多，身為矮人一族的少年人，本在小村落中營營役役，乃真正的 small potato。但他失驚無神當上魔戒持有人，一念之間隨時影響天下大勢！結果他毅然揹上千斤重擔踏上征途，最後亦成為了英雄。
然後是《蜘蛛俠》系列的彼德柏加，一個本來十分普通的中學生，天生孱弱大近視，卻因意外而得到異常能力，從此暗中鋤強扶弱。
三個小男生，三個戰勝環境、戰勝心魔、轉弱為強的故事；絕非高大靚仔人見人愛，更不靠肌肉力量。這就是如今的英雄人物。
香港的代表，暫未見出現；比較接近的，也閉O麥兜吧。
