中學同窗K博士路經香港數天，照例與他一聚，地點正是卡拉OK。
稱他為K博士，絕非笑他是「唱K的博士」之意。他數年前自美國加州柏克箂大學取得博士學位，是人工智能、機械人方面的專家，這幾年一直留在該校做研究工作。
好玩的是，他雖貴為名校博士、學術界猛人，卻一點也不古板，十分喜歡唱K；雖在美國多年，對港式生活卻極之留戀，絕對是「身在曹營心在漢」！故每次回港，必約我出來與他唱K一番。
其實，他自言一直有心想回港工作，既可把自己的學識技能回饋香港和祖國，又可過自己喜歡的港式生活，何樂而不為？據知，這些年來他亦一直有和本地幾間大學密切接觸，看看有否合適他的職位或研究計畫。
可是，今次K博士卻帶給我一個消息：他已受聘於美國田納西州納什維爾市（Nashville）的Vanderbilt大學，將為該校成立新研究室；唱完K後翌日，他便要趕飛當地返新工了。他又說，香港某大學雖表示有意聘用他，卻遲遲開不出條件來，唯有作罷。
我聽後相當感慨。香港成日話要發展高科技經濟，卻輕易把K博士這種人才流失，有冇搞錯？可憐K博士，去咗納什維爾之後一定冇K唱了！
