俗語云「秋風起,三蛇肥」,但近年秋風一起,港人都只會想起蟹宴而非蛇宴。
當中秋一過,家中的月餅還有剩,大閘蟹就已搶閘上市。不過,新曆十月初還未是啖蟹的最佳時機,大家不妨多等一會,到十月尾十一月,就包你吃到全年最肥美最多膏的大閘蟹。
喂,一定要信我,我可是個大閘蟹專家。二十多年前,大閘蟹在香港仍未普及,只是屬於蘇浙人士(即江蘇、浙江省人,亦包括上海人)的家鄉食物,每年來貨量不多,僅在一些稱為「南貨店」的上海雜貨鋪才有售。
小弟家族正好是浙江人,所以由細食大閘蟹食到大。每逢秋季,必蟹宴頻仍,家族成員為蟹而雲集,地點在外公外婆家中,從來不會上館子;全頓飯就只有一味「蒸大閘蟹」,先吃雌後吃雄,成年人位位吃上三四隻,小孩子則只能分配到蟹爪,故個個自小訓練有素,懂得如何拆蟹。
現今,外公外婆已去多年,家族成員亦四散;每步入蟹季,總會望蟹而生惆悵。上館子啖蟹,一隻起兩隻止,很不是味兒;自己在家蒸,又有種蟹多過人的孤清感。
大閘蟹是普及了,又多又平,但真正的蟹宴,對我來說已不復再。
