美國人，可謂乜都會告擭j，郁下就要索償。
比方說，在大雪之後，若果你不把門前雪掃個乾淨而引致有人滑倒受傷的話，你就肯定會被傷者控告，向你索償。
不過，有時被狀告的一方，又真的相當無辜。就像最近，美國著名錄影帶租賃連鎖店 Blockbuster（即香港也有分店的「百事達」），就無端惹上官非。
話說新澤西州一對夫婦，去年四月在 Blockbuster 租了一盒《Home Alone 3》（港譯《寶貝智多星3之四大癲王》）的錄影帶，在家中與四歲大女兒一同觀賞。誰知電影完結後，該盒影帶竟繼續播出十分鐘色情片段，還是無遮無掩打真軍的！
夫婦於是狀告 Blockbuster，指因該公司的疏忽構成對其女兒的傷害，要求索償。Blockbuster 的發言人則表示無奈，指該些打真軍片段乃一些沒有公德的客人，在租用該盒影帶後私自錄上去的；言下之意，是否暗指該對夫婦「插贓嫁禍」？不得而知。
講真，Blockbuster 的確很無辜；總不可能每盒影帶在出租歸還後，都找人從頭到尾審核一次，看看有否被加料吧！但香港的「百事達」則大可放心，皆因全部租碟也，仲邊有租帶咁落後！
