The Last Battle

Long ago in a land far far away there lived a young elf named Bill. He was young but to you and me he was old (50 years old, in fact). Bill was known to the Elves as the quiet type. He hung around the local bar a lot and talked to old friends. Bill never went on adventures or hikes into the woods. He stayed mostly in the town of Life which was the Elve's home town. Bill had a couple of young Elves that he liked but there was one Elf that he loved. His name was Grandolf the Elf. Grandolf was the wisest being out of all the creatures of the land except for the king of Life, Fraile. Fraile was wise, too. At the age of 211 he was the oldest in Life and had been around forever.
Bill lived alone up in the rough terrain of Life. His home was a hole in the ground, sort of like a rabbit's but bigger.
There was evil brewing in the west of Life. There were Jacklers and Goblins and the evil sorcerer, Exile. They lived in the lands of Death. The lands of Death were named after their king Exile. Exile is another word for death. This is where the story begins.

"Hey Bill," the bartender called out hoarsely. "Do you want another beer?" "No thanks," said Bill with a smile. "I'm fine. I'm just about to leave anyway." "Well, you take care of yourself, ok?" the bartender called out. Bill left the bar in a cheerful mood. While he was walking home he met Grandolf on the path.
"Bill," Grandolf said frantically. "We are in great danger. You know the lands of Death. They are building an army and the people of Life must do something."
"What can I do?" Bill cried out.
"You have powers that you may not know about, powers that can make you an excellent spy. Come, I have already talked to the King. He has sent out bowmen in the area and swordsmen. Wizards and horsemen are waiting at the castle," said Grandolf hurriedly.
"Let's go then!" exclaimed Bill, a little overwhelmed with all the excitement.
They got to the palace. There they met the army, ready to go. They began marching and marched into the 120 degree heat of the desert. After they had been going for almost a week, they came to a skeleton lying in the sand with a sign by it which read -- "LAND OF DEATH". "Well, that's pleasant," King Fraile muttered. Everyone chuckled nervously.
The men continued marching though they were getting very thirsty and running out of supplies. Finally they could see a town in sight.

"We need to send someone ahead to spy," said Frail. "Bill, I am asking you to go. You are the youngest and the smallest."
"I will," said Bill proudly.
Bill approached the town silently and stealthily. There were Jacklers guarding the palace walls and Goblins at the front gate, always alert. But Bill was quick and silent. He slipped through the gate and into the first building he saw.. He opened the door and started down the corridor. At first it was a fast walk and then a sprint. He looked back every two or three seconds. He was so terrified that he felt his heart would explode into a million pieces.
Bill went into the first door he saw. Sitting in an armchair starring at the fire was a man. This was not a regular man. He was covered all over by a black cape and hood, even his face. Bill screamed so loud that the fire went out. The hooded man turned around. Bill just stood there, expecting the man to call for the guards or slice off his head. After several more minutes, the hooded man had done nothing to capture Bill. "This is weird, thought Bill. He looked at himself, up and down. "Hey, I'm invisible!" he cried.
"I know that, you fool. I've been trying to sniff you out for the last five minutes," snarled the hooded man. He rose from his chair and took a step in Bill's direction.
Bill sprinted down the corridor and out the door, He ran down the street loudly but no one saw him.
"Finally, you're back!" exclaimed Fraile giving Bill a warm slap on the back.
"I`m invisible or I mean I was invisible!" yelled Bill.
"Yes," Grandolf butted in, "I told you that you were magical."
"How did I get invisible?" asked a confused Bill.
"Well, you see, when you go into an enemy's town, Thoron (the Elven god) protects you," said Grandolf flatly. Just then an arrow flew by Grandolf's head.
"War!" screamed Fraile. The swordsmen ran to the gates. The wizards did their magic by sending scum at the enemy. The horsemen charged at the goblin swordsmen. Then right behind Bill, the hooded stranger had a sword and was ready to take off Bill's head. Luckily for Bill, Grandolf stopped him just in time with his golden staff and Bill stabbed the hooded man with his pocket knife. The swordsmen broke in and killed everyone in their path. Then the horsemen killed the Jackleres at the entrance to the castle and went into the throne room and killed the king which ended the war. The horsemen jumped off of their horses and started to scream and yell. They ran to Frail and told him that victory was theirs.
"Well, I guess that is one enemy gone but there are still a lot more." They smiled and walked off the battle field.

The End
