This event is a community event.. meaning it's held for charity, and not for profit.. so no, the organisers do not make any money.. it goes straight to charity..
so for the amount of work put in to organise the event, and all the people that help out voluntarily.. i think the ticket pricing is fair.
Last year's event actually went quite well, as the organisers raised a sufficient amount to give to chairty.
But two years ago, as you suggested, the organisers did not raise enough funds.. and had to provide the rest out of their own pockets..
