Subject: hearing loss

hello all. i'm so happy i found this site. i have a 6 m.o. female australian cattle dog who appears to be losing her hearing. when i first got her i know she could hear fine. she was very obedient and easy to train. now, however, she will not respond without me touching her or getting her attention in some other way. when she does respond, she will gladly follow my command with the hand signals i use. there have been occasions when she'll turn around when i call, but it seems to be coincidental. and i have also noticed that she can hear some sounds, doors slamming and my other dogs high-pitched barks, but that seems to be it. has anyone ever heard of a 6 month old puppy losing their hearing? also, i would like to know how reliable the BAER testing is and about how much it costs. thank you for any input. Melissa and Abigail
