I've found that reward-based training works well with *any* dog, and deaf dogs are no exception. I just adopted out a 6-month old deaf pit boy I was fostering, and he learned very quickly using food rewards. The trick with food rewards is to treat frequently while the dog is learning a behavior, but once she knows the behavior begin phasing the treats out until you're only rewarding her every once in a while.
