Subject: constructed tower.

It's a pity Orange have decided to construct a tower in Oatley Park. A pity that now we will have the ability to use mobile phones throughout the Park. The tower was to be built on a lighting pole. They weren't constructing anything else to begin with. The minority of Oatley protestors had a problem with the Orange operation in the first place and to settle for arguments sake the lighting pole was removed. THEN plans to build a tower were thought up. You in fact made it even worse! I suppose you don't use microwaves at home? You don't drive a car? Stop being so hypocritical. You yourself said that the effects of EMR are unknown. So stop whinging for now & get back to your kitchen. Your muffins are burning. If this tower is taken down again, and the next fallen bushwalker is unable to phone for help due to the lack of mobile phone signals, it'll be on your head.

J- Thanks for your comment. To repond to the issues you raised:

1. Oatley Park already has full mobile coverage. The new tower is for a new technology (3G) for which NO handsets are presently in the community. So your injured bushwalker would get no help from this tower.

2. Orange always intended to remove the light tower and replace it - the old one was not structurally capable of holding all their equipment. The protests have not resulted in a worse outcome as far as the tower itself is concerned.
