Hi George. You have aroused my curiousity about Frank and how he might fit in to the family tree. Have you any further info Parents names, brothers, sisters, etc. What part of Huyton did you live in. We moved in with an Aunt in Butleigh Rd when we were bombed out and then onto Beechburn Cresent before finishing up at Finch Lane. There are a few Durneys in Canada but cant remember where off the top of my head. I am trying to trace one of my Grandads brothers who went to Canada and the family always said that he became a Director of Del Monte the fruit canning firm. How old would Frank be?

Bob.

Bob-I recall Frank having a younger brother but do not have any names for the family. We were in the same classes together so Frank would have been born late in 1926 or early 1927. As you lived in Butleigh Rd. you must remember the Camp, we moved in as the P.O.W.s and 18b Detainees moved out in May 1941.I lived on Shepton Rd. which ran of Parbrook Rd. Del Monte operated in the Hamilton/Niagara Falls area. Looked in the phone books and there are only three Durneys listed.

George, I have e mailed you off list about the possibility of having traced your Frank. The one I have was born 26 OCT 1926. Thanks for the info on Del Monte at Hamilton I have now got the addresses of the the three D's in Hamilton and will get in touch. I remember Shepton Rd it ran between Parbrook Rd and Hillside Avenue Also remember the whole area when it was fenced off and used as a POW camp. I was in the Huyton Sea Cadets at TS Ironduke and used to pass the POW camp and also the three Transit camps in Bluebell Lane on the way to parades. Bob.
