Subject: Teacher with some suggestions
In reply to: MOM9399 's message, "Help! Need good ideas for helping my third grader learn her multiplication facts!!!!" on 11:47:56 04/03/03 Thu

try having her say them aloud as she traces them in sand or shaving cream on a cookie sheet

practice out loud every time you go somewhere--just randomly

have her make up a song, or buy a cd that has songs to them

at the grocery store, round the prices to the nearest whole number (59 cents a pound, 60 cents) How much will 5 pounds of tomatoes run (5 x 6, put a zero on the end), 8 pounds?

Teaching stores have some neat products that involve action as they study them--under $5 wrap arounds, windows, overlays

Use magnetic numbers to answer the question you ask out loud (what's 6 x 9--show the answer with magnetic numbers)

HTH!

Heather
