Actually, she understands general concepts about money but has no idea about the value of things. I'm soooo hypersensitive to it because I do not want her growing up spoiled. Maybe it's even easier for us because we never say that we can't afford things; we just explain why she can't have it.

I'm curious as to when people start giving allowances. We decided that since she's not materialistic and only rarely asks us to buy her things, we're better off NOT raising the issue just yet -- we thought it would make her MORE apt to want to spend money.

We sometimes give her money for extra help -- but we always forget to bring it when we go out shopping! Having it sit in her piggybank due to forgetfulness is probably not teaching a thing, oh well!
