The seat comes with the latch/tether capabilities. You can not use the latch system (where you don't need a seatbelt at all, it latches and tethers to your floor and seat (new model cars). That feature can only be used to 48lbs. It is not a belt positioning booster at all. It is uses like a regular harness carseat up to 85lbs I think (with seatbelt threaded thru like a normal carseat).
Does that make sense?
The latch/tether is an option but must be used with the seatbelt (threaded, not like a belt-positioning booster like you are using now)after child reaches 48lbs.
