Local simday 84 has begun in the hood. The neighborhood's population is beginning to age, but with recent college graduates returning to the hood to start families of their own we expect to see significant growth in the next few sim days.

The Artist family would like to extend their thanks to all neighborhood residents who helped them in their time of need. April Artist writes, "We want to thank everyone who chipped in to help us find a new home. While it's been hard for us to leave the house that my husband and I moved into as newlyweds and raised our daughters in, we are absolutely thrilled to have such a wonderful place to spend our retirement years. We are blessed to live in such a generous neighborhood and we can't thank everyone enough for their friendship and support. You have made an otherwise bleak holiday season brighter for all of us. Thank you. April, Sidney, and Abbey Artist"

Another family has also switched lots. The Carr household has moved to a larger house. With the move, the family has petitioned to change their household name from Carr to Cormier, to be more fitting with the surname of its current residents. In addition, the Adopted household has petitioned to change their household name to Carr for the same reason.

DEATHS
There has been one death in recent days. Ivy (Copur) Carr passed away in her home on day 83. Ivy was well known as a professional party guest and she had the distinction of being the last surviving member of the neighborhood's first generation after the death of her husband, Judge Joe Carr. She is survived by her daughter, Rose (Ricky) Cormier, and young grandson Richard Joseph Cormier.

BIRTHS
There has been one birth in recent days. Frank London was born on day 83 to Randy and Grace London. He is the London's second child.

ENGAGEMENTS
Bethany Artist and Chandler Platz announce their engagement. Bethany is the daughter of Tristan and Marisa (Bendett) Artist. Both Bethany and Chandler are college graduates who have recently returned to the neighborhood.

MARRIAGES
On day 82, Ravi Harris and Marsha Bruenig were married. The couple have registered their new household under the bride's maiden name, Bruenig, but, following local tradition, they have taken the groom's surname of Harris.

On day 83, Brooke Thayer-Centowski and Calvin Young were married. The bride is the daughter of Meadow Thayer and Orlando Centowski. The groom came to the neighborhood to study at the local university. They have started a new household, registered under the name Young and are using the same surname.

One of our downtown celebrities has also tied the knot. Heartthrob actor, Nathaniel Heath Todd, and tennis superstar, Kathryn (Kitty) Leong, were married on New Years' Day following a very short and secretive engagement. The wedding was a private affair with only close friends in attendance.

COUNCIL NEWS
At the next meeting the council there will be a discussion about University standards. All teens are encouraged to attend university for their last 8 days before adulthood. This gives our young sims a chance to gain independence, meet other sims their age, and to gain skills before they become full fledged adults. But parents are concerned that their students are spending too much time on the social aspect and not enough time on their studies. Do we want a university that not only passes students who never write a term paper or do a single assignment, but places them on the Dean's List? Do we want our next generation to learn the way to get ahead is to befriend professors and influence others to do your work for you? Do grades really matter after University? These are some of the concerns that have been brought up and will be discussed at the next meeting.
