Hello Simmervillians,

A long note with some news on the end of our local simday 35. Read about:
*** Our deal with the Sim State University modified
*** Local hood taxes adjusted
*** Can you let a room?

*** Our deal with the Sim State University modified

Simmerville has sent numerous students off to Sim State University and we will still do so. But our deal with the University became too expensive and is now limited to 6 stundents at any time. Starting on simday 36 all students from Simmerville will stay in the Simmerville House, which offers 3 bedrooms with 6 beds. On the beginning of any new simday the Simmerville House will try to fill up the house by accepting more students from the hood. Those with higher total grants will be preferred, if a tie then the oldest student is preferred. This means that not all who wants to go will be accepted, but with hard work anyone can be first in line!

You must be 22 simdays old and have 15 or more skill points to apply for grants, and you must be 22-25 simdays to be accepted for University.

Simmerville will soon provide online lists showing what career tracks are most popular, and we urge students to choose careers with few local employees.

The fee for sending a student off to Sim State University is upgraded from §1000 to §2000 per student, and will be charged from the origin household on the next local tax collecting day (simday 40, 45, 50...).

Starting on simday 36 the hood will reward each graduated Sim with §5000 (used to be §4000) per AGP. Example: final AGP 3.8 x §5000 = §19000. To help making this possible the Simmerville House will be charged a tax of §500 per student per year (= 2 semesters). Don't worry, if the Simmerville House cash balance stays good the new system will not require students to work a lot. A Sim will no longer keep anything from the Simmerville House cash balance directly (used to be §5000).

*** Local hood taxes adjusted

For a long while we have charged each household §500 every 5th simday. This rate will still be valid for smaller households, but it seems unfair that a 1 sim household pays the same as a 8 sims household. The tax changes will mainly affect larger households, like two generations households.

Starting on simday 36 the hood tax per household will be:
1-4 adults/elders: §100 per simday
4-8 adults/elders: §200 per simday
No tax for children/teens or students on campus.
Renters count as regular household members.

*** Can you let a room?

The hood is getting overpopulated! We don't want a hood where highly educated Sims must move into a low class house in Test Lane because nothing else is vacant! The Hood Council is aware of the situation but hesitates to sell any more build rights at the moment. We will soon sign the new NightLife deal which might ease on this problem. We will then consider to sell downtown Business Certificates and urge the owners to move downtown. We also suggest larger families to send some moving out children to foreign hoods (through SUN Exchange?)

In the meantime we urge any household with a spare bedroom to let it. We suggest the following rates:
§100 rent per simday per adult/elder
§50 rent per simday per baby/toddler/child/teen

That was all for now,
Steven B. Brybrey
