Is it just me or have others noticed as well. The price of horses that have no experience or are green broke are 20 or more years old or are advertised as having injuries so can only be lightly riden etc seems absolutely ridiculous. Why would these horses be worth the $2000 or more that people are asking for them. Not saying that theses horses are worth nothing but it does mean that if you spend 2 years working a green broke horse to make it "reliable"and have already paid $2000 as the initial purchase then this unproven(for want of a better desciption)unschooled horse must surely be saleable for $5000 thus any "schooled"horse must be worth $8000 or more.
Could this be why the Horse industry is struggling?
Are breeders/dealers etc simply putting pleasure horses out of the reach of the average person and stopping new people getting into the horse world?
Surely if things do not become affordable(as of 5 years or so ago )when you could buy any number of trail /pleasure riding horses for around $500 then the industry will contract and fail.
What are others thoughts?
