Leicester say they are keen to move on in the wake of the 16th man controversy which marred their Heineken Cup defeat against the Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium last month.

The Tigers complained to European Rugby Cup after Wales full-back Lee Byrne was sent back on after suffering a dislocated toe during the Welsh side's 17-12 win, without any of his team-mates going off before fly-half Dan Biggar departed around a minute later.

They felt Byrne's return had influenced a critical passage of play as Leicester scrum-half Ben Youngs made a promising attacking break.

The Ospreys were fined 25,000 euros and Byrne was banned for two weeks by a disciplinary committee hearing.

Byrne appealed against the decision and his ban was replaced by a 5,000 euros fine, allowing him to take part in Wales' Six Nations defeat against England at Twickenham last weekend.

Leicester do not have the right to appeal and although they still await the full written verdict, chairman Peter Tom says the Guinness Premiership leaders have drawn a line under the incident.

He said: "We registered our original complaint immediately after the match, first because it was important to determine the course of events which led to one team having 16 players on the pitch, and second because an investigation was needed to ensure that this did not happen again in the future.

"The incident portrayed professional club rugby in a poor light to a large live and television audience during a high-profile fixture involving two top clubs in Europe's premier club tournament, with both sides chasing a place in the knockout stages.

"We are grateful that the investigation was completed quickly by European Rugby Cup Limited and that the disciplinary hearing was convened within seven days of our complaint.

"We will be interested to read the committee's full written verdict and its summary of the appeal decision in due course. In the meantime, we believe that the matter has been dealt with and it is now time to move on and concentrate on the rest of the season."
