漫談管理﹕具備「先決條件」方能「自治」 2006年8月7日

上期談及,「自治」是人們的立足點,也是管理人最基本的素養,不然的話,便難以服人,更遑論其他﹗然而,它的意思何在﹖怎樣才可以行之有效呢﹖

據《辭淵》解釋,自治是指「自動治理自己的事務」,如俗語「做事自動自覺」。筆者認為,若想行之有效,必須具備8項先決條件中至少一項,才可能發揮「自治精神」。那就是﹕自覺、自愛、自重、自制、自律、自省、自訟和自我批評。如何理解這些條件﹖

1.自覺﹕指「覺知自己是什麼」。如常言道﹕「人貴有自知之明。」平心而論,人哪會十全十美、沒有缺點﹖因此,能正確分析個人的優缺點,才能真正認識自己,然後憑個人能力為公司、為社會,作出貢獻。

2.自愛﹕指「行事謹慎,不會輕率取辱」。如《論語•公冶長》所云﹕「三思而後行。」凡做任何事,先作充分考慮,權衡輕重或得失,便不至於自招挫敗、自取其辱﹗

3.自重﹕指 「不會輕易有所舉動,十分重視個人人格」。這需建基於個人有沒有「羞恥心」﹖如《論語•子路》所言﹕「行己有恥。」意即「用羞恥之心來約束自己的行為」。一個具備羞恥心的人,才不至於做出有損人格尊嚴的事情,否則,便可能因一時貪念或為了榮華富貴,而不惜做出卑鄙無恥的事情。白領罪行(white collar crime)如﹕商業詐騙、數碼罪行、行賄和貪污,便是其中例子。(待續)
