  • Yarrr...? -- Jenner the PiRat, 23:29:19 10/18/07 Thu
Harr harr me mateys. I'm back w' me most wonderful, briliant, original self since before some certain piratical "films" have surfaced *ahem*. Well, I's been alookin' to see if me ol' shipmates were still visitin' these shores. Seems that things are a bit drafty an' quiet. Perhaps a few fireworks 'll cheer the place back up! I wonder will remember those... not to mention me. I'll buy a round o' grog for all me pi"rat"ical mates out there. Oh, an' ye don't have to be a rat to partake. ENJOY!

  • Update -- Ublaz, 20:51:54 07/29/07 Sun
Hey everyone. Checking back. It's really cool to see people still posting. The names are so familiar to me.

Anyway, when I posted back in January, I didn't give any details about my life situation. I'm now 23 (so old!). I was 14 when I first opened INSU--that's even crazier. I graduated from Marquette University in May. I'm going to start work for Kohl's (the department stores) in their corporate headquarters as a Merchandise Analyst. (Basically, I allocate inventory to stores.) Look me up on Facebook as Matt Etzel. (There's four of us. I'm the Marquette one.)

Next summer will be the 10 year anniversary of the grand opening of Sampetra: INSU. I feel like I should do something special. Any ideas? Send me an email.

Keep in touch. I'd love to hear from you guys and reminisce about INSU.

Checking in to see who's still around. Found an active club called Tatterack (geocities.com/tatterback). It sucks, but it's the only active one I've found. I'm sure the rest of the crew (Jeff, Jord, Mark, and Sabi) send their regards.

  • Just checking in -- Krast the Assassin, 02:55:27 07/26/07 Thu
Well, well. I still check in every few months, and I'm glad to see many people still around and still remembering INSU. I still miss this place (is that pathetic, or am I just growing old?). I miss all the people, and I'm so sad I've gone out of contact with many of them. Skarflor, Rippy, Kez, Talbane, Bracken and Bladepaw who I always, always mixed up, Romy, Chlorum Furo, Gris, Jenner, Ublaz ... heh, the only two people I'm still in regular contact with are Lya/Alaine and Arket.

If anyone wants to get in contact with me, please don't hesitate to send me an email. I'd love to hear how everyone is going.

  • * A sembelence of an RP* -- Talbane, 01:23:51 07/22/07 Sun
*He opens the door for a moment and stands there with his head cockd to the side, the wolfs ears perking foward with a slight clink from the multitude of earings he wears. The tavern, it used to be so full of life, full of creatures each living out their existance and it had seemed like it would go on forever. He couldent remember the first time he'd ever been here, and, like many, the wolf tells himself that this will be his last. Yet, as his cold blue eyes wander over the shadows of the darkened room, dancing before him with the ligh tof the day cascading through the dissrepear of the tavern's roof, he shuts his eyes. Perhaps it would be better for him not to see the tavern in such disrepear, perhaps all the creatures of old would be there once he opened his eyes. That way, Talbane figured, he could simply walk in and join them, perhaps even rouse up an old quarrel to get his aging blood afire again. He could almost hear them now thorugh the lonely whisper of the wind, laughing, arguing, dancing, fighting, living, dieing; he opens his eyes. The empty room awated him, but still across the years of dust that collected upon the wooden floor, he could see the faint markings of footprints. Perhaps the decrepit build was a more of a cloister of memories, some good, some bad. Though, perhaps, it was simply a ruin that he still marked upon his map, a sad lonely hut that would never be forgotten.

  • Hmm... looks like it's still standing, somehow. -- Kez, 00:48:12 04/06/07 Fri
*Surveys the tavern, eyeing the familiar surroundings and reminiscing to those good ole' days.* Goodness, it really has been a while!

It's a somber day when you come back for a visit and all of your old friends are taking their leave. Truthfully, I just happened to decide to check out the board again on a whim to see what had been brewing, and I found this! Though I certainly can't claim to have partaken in any ROC activities as of late, quitting entirely seems like a real waste of a good thing...

Then again I guess I was never all that mature. : )

Honestly, though, INSU was one of those things that allowed creativity to flow, and I wouldn't have given that up for anything. It all boils down to the people, of course. Without you all none of this would have never happened, and I think it's a testament to our resilience that this forum exists and (sort of) still has active participation.

Maybe something can be said about the fact that every time I decide to show up, someone else from about eight years ago has decided to do the same. There's a certain intangible element about this place that always draws you back. How cool is that?

Although we've grown up, we can't disregard such a facet of our past. Sure, in the long run it might not shine as the most important part of your life, but it will continue you to influence everything you do in some small way. (I began using yellow as my font color here and it's stuck with me ever since... I never even liked yellow to begin with!).

Yikes, sorry for rambling; I must be getting old. Maybe someone can use my words of (quasi-)wisdom and then this will all be worth it. Who knows?

Best of luck to you all, INSUers. It's been an honor to be associated with this place. Until next time...

Obligatory OOC update: I'm finishing up my third year at college working for that physics degree, and looking for (eek!) grad schools so I can become Dr. Kez. I'm not married yet... that's kind of scary to think about. If anyone wants to shoot me an e-mail I have that linked; find me on facebook if you're interested. Take care, everyone.

Well hello again old friends. It has been a very long time since I've stumbled into these realms. Anybody remember a dagger-throwing ferret with the name Akki? Yup yup, it's me!! I looked back through some of the archives and almost cried when I realized I forgot about the Grog Squad & the good ole fights & whatnot. I was just noticing that some folks still check out the board so I wanted to make my presence known. Browsing the old threads, I see a few familiar names (Romy, Kez, Gris, Rippy, Krast) and wonder what's become of them? I hope everyone's paths are turning out very well and may we all meet again on the other side!

*raises her goblet high to the rafters*

    Here's to all
    Friend and foe
    Young and old
    May we always
    Remember the times
    We shared together

*takes a great gulp and smiles, with tears in her eyes*

If any of the Grog Squad still lurks, I'm down for one last showdown!!!! C'mon.. BRING IT!

    Akki Flameeyes

For a RL update, it was '99 or so when I started being a part of the ROC and I was about 13. Now I'm 21 and almost done with college. I live in Lil Rock, AR and don't do much except work, drink, play with my cats - Shinobi & Kiki, and watch the idiot box. I have a myspace and a facebook, though I don't use the facebook much. For the first time I can ever recall I'm putting my email addy (click on the name) so anyone can contact me if they want to. I do miss the fun that used to ensue here but people grow up and move on. I've recently revived my love for Redwall, and sitting here at work I have Rakkety Tam open beside me, having refinished Triss on Friday (yes, I entertain myself at work by reading Redwall). You are never too old to have an active imagination! If you remember me or even if you don't, hit me up and lets recount stories of fame & glory.. and.. y'know.. grog!

...I guess none of us are really kids anymore though. Oh well. I miss my INSU middle school days and all the fun times. I'm a junior in college now, a history major/spanish minor, dreading taking the LSATs next fall. I'm 20, and I still come back and check this board at least twice a week! I've got a great boyfriend and I think I'll be following Gris pretty soon and getting married...everyone is waiting for him to pop the question ;).

I definately want to stay in contact with everyone. I'm on AIM, facebook and myspace (yea yea, I know), just email me and keep in touch.

And am I still the queen of Grog? I hope so.

  • #1 Best-Selling Author Robert Allen Launches A New Company! (Get Harry Potter, etc. At Wholesale!) -- Robert Allen Lead Mentor, 16:23:57 05/04/07 Fri

BookWise: A New Business Based On Books

Bookwise was started by two famous best-selling authors: Robert Allen and Richard Paul Evans.

    www.RobertAllenSite.net

    1. For about $35 per month - you own your own business.
    2. This is a FORCED MATRIX...which means that people will be added to your team over time from myself and other business leaders. (I'm VERY close to the top and have some of the top internet marketers in the world on my team.) The key to Forced Matrices is that you get in early for all of the "spillover" that will occur from people above you. (Myself and other leaders...)
    3. You get to select a best selling book from the catalog each month.
    4. You also get a free eBook and a free audio book.
    5. Then after selecting your first book -- you can purchase other books at 40-50% off retail prices (and shipping is very reasonable as well.)
    6. Monthly Bookwise newsletter
    7. Free speed-reading lessons
    8. Bestselling author webcast interviews -- for example this past month they interviewed Dr. Laura about her latest book.
    9. Tax benefits (from owning a home based business -- there are many tax benefits which easily cover any expenses associated with being a Bookwise member)
    10. Wealth Wise - get financial coaching from experts -- Robert Allen and Richard Paul Evans.
    11. Get 2 tickets to the seminar about How to Write a Bestseller -- meeting publishers, agents, best selling authors, etc. (Value about $1200 per ticket).
    12. A portion of the Bookwise proceeds goes directly to charity EVERY MONTH.

Great benefits for Bookwise membership. As the company grows there will be more benefits added. If you've ever wanted to earn money from home, build a library of best-selling books and be able to purchase books at wholesale prices -- Bookwise may be the opportunity you are looking for.

    Who Are The BookWise Founders?
Building one of the largest internet booksellers in the world requires a powerful and experienced executive team. To run this new company, Richard assembled a group of leaders from various industries. These are the BookWise Founders:

    Richard Paul Evans, CEO, Founder
Richard is more than an award-winning #1 Bestselling Author (with a string of eleven New York Times bestsellers and 13 million plus copies of his books in print worldwide). He is also a savvy businessman and entrepreneur. At the age of 31, Richard was awarded the coveted Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award. Richard is also the founder of The Christmas Box International; an organization that helps abused and neglected children. BookWise combines three loves of his life: Books, Business and Charity.

    Robert G. Allen, Founder, Co-Chair
Robert G. Allen is one of North America's most famous and most influential financial advisors. After graduating with an MBA from Brigham Young University in 1974, Robert began his real estate investment career and turned his successful experiences into the #1 bestselling book, Nothing Down, with forty-six weeks on the New York Times national bestseller list. He followed that success with four other major New York Times bestsellers with sales in the millions: Creating Wealth, Multiple Streams of Income, The One Minute Millionaire and Cracking the Millionaire Code: Your Key to Enlightened Wealth. He has appeared on hundreds of programs including Good Morning America, Larry King and Your World with Neil Cavuto. He has also been featured in such national publications as The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Barron's, Money Magazine, Redbook, and Reader's Digest. In addition to his publishing career, Robert and his wife of 30 years, Daryl, have enjoyed extensive success in the network marketing industry as one of the top 25 associates in a major company for the past ten years. On his decision to become a founding member of BookWise, he says, "When I sense that something major is about to happen, I don't question my intuition. I simply jump and ask questions later. BookWise is such an opportunity. I said to myself, 'Bob, you'll kick yourself if you miss this.'" Mr. Allen is thrilled to add his name and expertise to BookWise—a company that is destined to transform the lives of people all over the world.

    Dennis Webb, Founder
Dennis Webb's name holds cachet among the world's business elite. As one of the co-founders of the internationally successful Franklin Quest, Dennis was responsible for 250 million dollars of product development and distribution. In addition, Dennis trained clients from numerous Fortune 500 companies, including PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Dow Chemical, Merrill Lynch, and Citibank. Dennis is a much sought-after speaker on a wide range of topics, ranging from leadership to time management to financial planning to team building.

    Andy Compas, Chief Operating Officer
Andy Compas, a.k.a. 'Ironman Andy' and 'Andy the Kid,' brings more than a decade of leadership and network marketing experience to the BookWise team. Andy has worked in nearly every realm of the direct sales industry: sales and marketing, call center organization, IT, executive management and order fulfillment. Most recently he has worked as United States General Manager for one of the largest MLM organizations in the world. Andy has also managed successful global sales teams and in one stretch revitalized an entire sales force by running 100 meetings in 100 days.

Mark W. Hurst, Chief Marketing Officer
Within a week of learning about BookWise, Mark sold his interest in Utah's most award-winning advertising agency—where he served as the President and Chief Creative Officer—to join the BookWise Executive Team. In Mark's 30-year career in advertising he has won hundreds of awards for his work and is considered a world-class leader in strategic and creative marketing. Mark spent five years in San Francisco working as Director of Brand Planning for DDB—the largest ad agency organization in the world. Mark has assisted many well-known businesses including Microsoft, Novell, Deloitte Consulting, Jiffy Lube, Evans & Sutherland, and Megahertz (now 3Com). He has been a featured speaker around the country on business-to-business branding and has authored a book on that subject.

    Blair Williams, Chief Technology Officer
BookWise is a complex, online business model because we are buying and selling thousands of books each month through associates all over the country. It requires the skills of a highly trained expert in software and internet management to make it all run smoothly. Blair Williams is the perfect fit. He is a skilled technology guru with experience as a software developer and web manager. He manages people and code equally well. He comes to BookWise from Franklin Covey where he worked as Chief Systems Architect. He has managed a successful Enterprise Web Hosting company called Caseproof and has led software development projects for major US technology corporations including DuPont, EDS and McAffee.

The BookWise Founders are more than a dream team of business leaders and authors, but a group committed to helping hundreds of thousands of individuals realize their greatest potential through books.

  • Wow -- Slashclaw, 07:07:53 05/02/07 Wed
This is so strange, I can't believe this place is still here either! It just came to mind today when I was thinking what books to recommend to my little nephew. Of course Redwall was one of them. I'm not sure if anyone here actually remembers me, I think I went by Slashclaw, but I had a ton of other characters that I have no chance of remembering. As for my life update, somehow I made it to age 21, got my science degree, and now I'm just finishing up my first year of medicine. And now that I think about it, I believe old Slash did have healing knowledge. Like most other people on here, I have facebook and MSN, so if anyone actually remembers me, feel free to add me!

  • **A furry black tail pokes from amidst the rubbish of the tavern. Slowly, very slowly, a little vixen rises up out of it, clutching a dusty bottle of grog.** Hmmmm...still good.... -- Gris/Martha, 00:26:30 01/19/07 Fri
Fly time fly...Man, I can look all the way back to 2003 on this board. It's funny how long it's been. Every so often I think about the days of the ROC, and I sort of sigh. It was such a huge part of my childhood. All of our childhoods and teen years. Sitting at the computer, trying to hide what we were doing from our parents, sharing secrets and whole lifetimes...

And now here I sit, in my own house, with my little jack russell curled up on my feet. His name's Yoda. And my little mischievous black fuzzy dog lying on the floor. Her name is, you guessed it, Gris. We gotta carry on the old ways somehow right? So amidst all the moving planning (moving to Fort McMurray), and the bill-paying, and the wedding planning (yes, I'm engaged), and all the hassle that comes with a new life and possibly a very new life (Ask me in two weeks about that one), I remembered this place, and all the people of INSU and DMC, which was my starter base. I remember Greencloak, Bladepaw, LoMinang, Romy, Kez, our friend the pink pirate, Checkerpaw (my arch nemesis), Jesse, Jordan (you especially), Mark, Sandra, Jeff, jeremy, SnowiyBen (teehee!), Gillas/Nancy, Swordy, Sabi, Steph Yumi, good god, and so many countless others. We shared so much. So I guess, corny as it sounds, that I just came back to thank all you guys for a great childhood, great teenage years, and the amazing friendships, and good times, and laughter that amounted from all the crazy adventures and drama we invented for ourselves. All my characters from Clearspring (that was tragic), to Ranguvar (**wince** Yeh I broke the golden rule), to Opiate Stormripper, and finally, to my beloved Gris.

Love all you guys. Best of luck in life, and I really hope that sometime we might meet face to face.

    All my love,

    Egriseth Viefirodix Hoodsong AKA Gris.

  • Well, the place still stands! -- Gillas da Short azz Marten (OOC: Nancy), 22:36:28 12/14/06 Thu
Well, I thought I would come by here and see if anyone is still coming by and so. For all those who don't recall me, I used to RP Gillas and an assortment is other chars to cause havok and such. I hope that everyone is doing good out there and accomplished all of the goals that were set to mind.

I finished college at the end of 2005, and have been working on an ambulance since then. Funny I had a healer for a char and in a way I kinda am a healer IRL. Hmmmm, not really I suppose. We kinda stabilize patients untill the docs can do what they want.

So, hi to you all. Anything interesting out there? Not much here... *snorts and laughs* well, bed calls me and its out on the streets tomarrow, looking for mayham and gimpy peoples.

  • Looking into the past is a weird thing... -- Darkflower (DF)/Laura, 17:00:45 12/13/06 Wed
I don't know if anyone will ever read this, but I will post it anyway.

So, I decide to be random today and try to find the DMC (and yes, I was a DMCer through and through, even if at the end I frequented INSU. So I google the DMC. What do I discover? We're on Wikipedia. I was shocked. it's cool but I was shocked.

And from there I find here. and the memories flood back. I even went to the DMC chat that was renewed in 2004. No one was there, but still....

Every once in awhile I look back on my time here in this world. I am not sure if anyone who (if) will read this, will remember me, but I clearly remember this place, these people. Hell, it was 4 or 5 years of my life. I remember all the people who affected me and who I cared about and of course the fun and drama that was had.

For the elders in this place, see if you remember any of these. Zelse, Spike, Scar, Jess's chars (aka Sickle-Eye) Quin, Mark's chars, Darkfur, Larkie, Bobert, Korik, Robby including Hel and Darkeye and all of his mischief. And there was Lorcan and Eeva, Kage, Kane, Erik's chars, and so many others. And of course...Teslar and Duma.

I hope you are well Sandra. I miss talking to you.

I hope everyone is finding happiness and whatever it is they want from life.

I miss rping...for many reasons. Miss being connected to something that not everyone experiences, being connected to something outside of myself.

It was a part of my life that no one but you guys will ever be able to understand.

I am sorry if I have lost touch with you. My AIM is still what it was back in the day and I am on facebook.

Thank you for what it was.

  • Wow... -- Redeye, 15:45:50 11/05/06 Sun
Hey everyone...wow it's been a long time since I paid a visit to the ROC. Sorry for falling out of contact for so long, I know I left some projects pretty much hanging in midair...I don't even really remember my exact reason for leaving anymore. In any case, I wouldn't mind talking to you guys again. For some reason, it tends to be the fall which always reminds me of this place and brings me back. I'm not back for good, not to mention that I'm not sure if there's even still a ROC left to return to, but I'll be stopping in for a few weeks just to see who's still kicking around the board.

    People still here, I wonder?

...I've been feeling a lot like I'd rather have a chat that I could go to, and find old friends there, already in the middle of an RP that I could get into.

Damn. That downright turns me on.

Too bad, though. Not having a computer. Or a chat, for that matter. Or enough of the old friends and foes.
