I was one of the lads that took part in the monkey parades. I lived at the top end of King Street near the Mitre Inn. I remember taking part in the MONMOUTHSHIRE POLICE SPORTS, AND SCHOOL SPORTS, at Tillery
Park, and was fortunate to win several sprint races there. The cycle races were smashing, a cyclist named BLACKLER used to win the long distant race at the end of the meeting. I knew your friend Marjorie Ralph very well. I left Abertillery in 1946 but still have fond memories
