Subject: Hi Chloe, I would be interested to learn your granddad's name. To answer your question, the 4 Poles were on the mountain above Rhiw Parc. There was also 'The Red Hut'. The 4 Poles was so called because there were ... (you guessed it) 4 poles there. I believe it may originally have been some sort of ariel system, The poles were cut down in about 1955 (guess) and after that the area was known as The 4 stumps. The red hut had some sort of switch gear in it. I have a photograph of Rhiw Parc on which I can mark the area, if you are interested I can e-mail you a copy.
