My grandfather Thomas Wilshire lived at 141 Somerset St at the time of his mariage in 1912 so it was obviously in existence before then. This may not be much help to you but if you have found out interesting "stuff" about the street I would be pleased to hear about it. Good luck with your project if it is still ongoing.

Somerset Street originated from two streets: Cwm Street and Somerset Street named after the Somerset Hotel, which itself was named after the influx of Somerset people into the town. Church Street was built in the 1870s/1880s originally first as Church Row. Alexandra Road was built in the 1890s/early 1900s to link the village of Six Bells with Abertillery.
