For your information I have the same opinion regarding large supermarkets opening on the perimeter of towns like Abertillery,Brynmawr Ebbw Vale etc.By the way when did Spars and Co-Op's become local businesess,I thought they were part of a national franchise.It is a sad reflection that most if not all of the true local businesses have closed down,due to in a big part to competition from the large outlets such as Tesco's Morrisons,Asda etc.Therefore there is little choice but to shop in these places.I still use what local shops I can,for instance Ron Taylors for electrical items you try getting customer service like that in large national chain store.Also I am not against cheap booze,but wouldn't want it at the expense of losing a lot of the local pubs.

Abertillery would benefit from a large chain pub opening up in the town - it would raise the standardsof all the others in the town - before you all start moaning - just think what it would be like to eat in a pub in Abertillery on a saturday night or in fact any night!     - I never have problems parking in Abertillery??? we have a big multi storey plus numerous other parking spaces around town??? If you cannot park use public transport then! Recent findings have shown that people now spend more of their income on Entertainment than whitegoods now so surley increasing the number of pubs and clubs is good inwards investment (NT) -- B Thomas, 12:12:38 01/25/06 Wed
