Author: Bright and Early
Subject: The pale filly that strode hesitantly into the territory was driven by a shadow of a scent she didn't dare trust.

She danced between hope and dispair, lingering at the edge of the herd, hardly daring to believe that she had managed to find the way to Cascade Mountains, much less that she had tracked down the scattered remnants of her family. The mare that she sensed was not the replica of her closer-than-twin sister, but it was familiar enough to confirm that Bright's older sister, or, dare she hope? her mother might inhabit the territory.

Bright stubbornly pushed away thoughts of Prayer. That was too much to wish for.

From her position beside Shazaam, Prayer had an excellent vantage point of the Isle. Her blue eyes surveyed the landscape listlessly, would all of this be gone soon? However, one figure grabbed her attention and held it. Was that...could it be? A high-pitched whicker of recognition, tinged with more than a dash of hope, emitted from her sooty muzzle. Would the ghost of her past reply?

ooc: ack! i can't believe i didn't see this?!!!

[> [> Her ear swung violently toward the sound. -- Bright, 00:04:53 09/06/03 Sat [1]

Spotting the filly that had haunted her thoughts for the past year, Bright found herself hesitating as she finally met the eyes of the twin of her soul. She wasn't sure exactly what held her hooves so firmly to the ground. Did she dare believe it? Almost reluctantly, she called softly to her sister, her heart flying to her throat.

Her heart leapt in elation as her call was answered. This filly was no ghost! Caution was thrown to the wind as the liver chestnut fairly flew toward her longlost sister, delighted shrieks and whickers trumpeting her approach. Skidding to a halt to avoid a collision, she stared in wide-eyed excitement, a triumphant grin adorning her dusky lips. *Bright* she announced breathlessly, her frail sides heaving with lack of breath and emotion.

[> She pounced on the filly, squealing euphorically. -- Bright, 18:08:24 09/06/03 Sat [1]

Pushing her pale muzzle against the familiar coat of her twin, she didn't bother to hold back the tears of relief that rushed from her wide, blue eyes. She found that all the experiences, sights, and emotions she had planned to relay to her twin had evaporated. There were no words for this.

Her eyes slipped shut blissfully only to snap open a split second later. No, she would remember this moment and hold it forever in her mind's eye. Her own muzzle nudged and nuzzled frantically as if she was assuring herself that Bright was really right there in front of her. Tears of her own welled in her blue eyes before falling in shimmering streams down her satin cheeks. No, life didn't get better than this.
