If the mare possessed eyebrows, one would have arched skyward at Daughter of Time's reply. As it was, she settled for a disapproving glance, her eyes momentarily hardening.

.:Hiding? Hardly. Because I choose to spend most of my time alone, I am considered to be hiding?:. Her tone hadn't changed but the words were delivered in a clipped, terse manner, indicating that she was not pleased by the other's assessment of the grulla fae's activities.

.:What would I have to hide from? Let us say instead that I chose to end my seclusion for the time being in order to aid my father in his campaign against the Evils. After this petty war is completely ended, I'll more than likely return to my solitary life but then again, I might not. I suppose we'll see:. Her ashen lips twisted into a wry grin, one lacking humor and warmth. The thought of her 'hiding' from the world galled the mare and brought her temper just a fraction closer to her veneer of cool composure. She understood now. If one chose not to involve oneself in the customary 'herd' activities such as mating, cavorting, and foaling, then one was 'hiding' from the life chosen by all of the others. Elven was a stoic soul who preferred simplicity and peace to the often convoluted entanglements of life within a herd.

.:My mother and brother were in the Healing Ward when I saw them last:. she continued. She noticed the lack of inquiry about her father but chose not to remark on it, instead she settled for a knowing smile. Apparently, her father had gotten under this one's skin leaving the mare in a state of forced apathy. Ah well, such was life within a herd.
