Author: Daughter of Light and...
Subject: Sweet debut
The Daughter of Light, having been missing for several days, returns quietly, a tiny shadow sticking to her side. Her long tail swept against her side, and the shadow imitated it, tiny brush flapping against his hindquarters ceaselessly. With a proud mother's eyes, the mare takes a few more steps forward, with the shadow trotting to keep up. As custom, she reaches beside her and nudges the form forward for the herd to view. With his head tucked stubbornly against his chest, the tiny colt obeys, standing in front of her with his tail still swishing madly.
Phoenix Ashes
Appearance: His coat is a curious shade of red roan, like strawberry dapples. His mane and tail are cream, streaked lightly with chesnut, so that when wet, it appears that his coat has melted onto his mane. He is built much like his father, with very little of his Arabic half showing in his frame. He is not at all like his dainty mother, but, even at his young age, has an impressive set of muscles. Only his tail, always carried proudly high, speaks of his 'finer' heritage.
Personality: Phoenix is haughty and proud, but only because he is terribly self-conscious with a relatively low self-esteem. Coming into the world without a father figure, he immediately idolized his half brother, Shazaam. He is a reflective, quiet colt, never one to strike up a conversation, and even when he finally is conversing, he keeps his words limited. Although not overly rambunctious or adventurous, he occasionally will set out on his own exploring, primarily so he can adjust to and become comfortable with his surroundings. With the exception of his family, Phoenix will follow no one, nor does he care if others follow him. Some think that he has a natural, unique charm without quite realizing it, but he is beautifully ignorant when it comes to fillies and would not understand flirting if it kicked him in the nose.
And now, as gradual as the fall
The dawn of hope
The brilliant sun sending all the shadows fleeing
Sweet daylight
A new stallion rising from the ashes
Leave it all behind and take to flight

.: Just sneaking out of the Filly beach to say hi :. -- Light's Final Honor, 01:15:04 07/21/03 Mon [1]
She disappears for a moment from the Beach, probably at Daught of Light's annoyance, and trots over to the foal, her eyes wide with the miracle of the sudden birth. Oh wow, she thought at the sight of the majestic colt. His ego will be as big as Texas in two days with all these fillies around. "Congratulations," she breathed to Daughter of Light, eyes not flickering from the tiny being for one second.

Wow -- Ellie, 01:17:11 07/21/03 Mon [1]
She shivers in delight as the mother (yet again) emerges from the brush, her adorable colt in tow. Immediatly striding forth, she lowers her head to his height. "Aren't you a cutie," She croones, taking sly notage of Honor who had escaped from her fellow fillies to step in on this amazing occasion. A twinge of jealousy showed its ugly green head as she watched the instantaneous bond. Her sterling pelt twitched incessantly, though not in relation to flies but her own desire for a foal to call her mum freely.

Time's only Mistress -- Daughterof Time, 08:49:21 07/21/03 Mon [1]
Silver fatale emerged from the shadows, ambling quietly over to the small group. Sterling auds pricked as livid pools spied the little one. Smoky limbs hat their motion as she spoke. ~~Hello, welcome back DOL. Wow, what's his name?~~

Pride of a lion -- Daughter of Light, 10:20:14 07/21/03 Mon [1]
Swelling with pride at the attention of those gathered, the mare answers quietly. "This is Phoenix Ashes, Phoenix for short." She glances down at the colt before continuing with a sigh. "He looks just like his father."
--Phoenix sticks his nose forward, feet planted immobile between DOL's own forelimbs, tail craze forgotten quickly. "Cutie," he repeats in a shrill bell whistle, tossing his head once. Amused by the light feel of his mane fluffing against his neck, he tosses it again, then begins trotting in a tight circle around his dam.--
The palomino smiles at the discovering antics of her son and grins slightly at the two fillies. "Aren't you supposed to be at the beach, Honor and Dot? Never mind that, thank you." The many-time mother looks sympathetically at her friend, Ellie. Recognizing the look of wistfulness in her eyes, she extends her muzzle to briefly touch the other's shoulder, at a loss for words of comfort.

Time's only Mistress -- DOT, 10:55:15 07/21/03 Mon [1]
Sterling filla nickered to the young colt. At DOL's words, she blushed. ~~Well, yes, but we were exploring and I just can't resist a new friend.~~ She laughed as he said "cutie" it was a cool thing, watching young foals speak their very first time.

.: He talked! :. -- Light's Final Honor, 12:32:06 07/21/03 Mon [1]
At his first little word she was sent into an inexplicable fit of giggles. Shaking her head slightly, the russet filly turned back to the beach. "Sorry Miss Daughter of Light, we'll go back. But he's so cute! I can't wait to be a mom," she chimed, even though motherhood was far, far away for this filly. Seeing as she's only a filly.

Oh please -- Ellie, 12:35:15 07/21/03 Mon [1]
She shook her head, uttering a gruff snort. "Congrats DOL," she said, and grinned when the colt repeated her word. Cutie. That he was. Gently touching the auburn mare back, the stalwart Arab turns from the gathering and trots off into the thicket of palm trees.

[ . My Life, My Love . ] -- Tori & Hexed, 21:20:50 07/21/03 Mon [1]
[ . Noting the knot of horses, the golden-hued mare moved closer to investigate, her fiery coated colt in tow. Upon reaching the cluster of creatures, Tori was delighted to see a foal prancing merrily around DOL . ]
..Congratulations DOL! He's absolutely adorable!..
[ . Upon hearing the word that his mother normally applied to him, the reddish youth stepped clumsily forward to figure out what his mother thought was so "adorable." Liquid chocolate gaze landing on the strawberry dappled colt, Hexed moved closer, his downy soft muzzle thrusting forward to sniff and prod. Satisfied for the moment, the small colt flicked his dual colored wisp of a tail rapidly and attempted an introduction . ]
Hessy..
[ . It was delivered with less finesse than his his mother would have done, but she was proud of him anyway . ]
..Yes dear. You are Hexed. Very good precious..
[ . The chestnut beamed and watched the other colt curiously, wondering when he'd introduce himself . ]

Curiosity -- Daughter of Light and Phoenix, 23:25:26 07/21/03 Mon [1]
Daughter of Light smiles gently at Chime. "It's good to meet you, Chime," she says sincerely, keeping one ear closely tuned to the whereabouts of her son. She glances briefly at Honor. "Take your time growing up," she suggests casually, continuing. "You needn't go back now if you don't wish too. The fillies may visit here as often as they like."
--Phoenix's attention is instantly captured by the arrival of one so small as him. He stops his carousel in front of the other reddish colt, eyeing him curiously. He pricks his tiny ears as the Hex inspects him, introducing himself as "Hessy." Completely unaware of his blood relation to this foal, he replies simply. "Cutie!"--
His mother laughs gently. "No, dear, your name is Phoenix."
--Tucking his head again against his neck, he repeats the name with somewhat less energy than his first word. "Phoenix," he tells the colt sullenly, watching the ground.--
DOL turns her grin to her son's mate. "Congratulations to you and Shaz as well," she replies, watching the two colts affectionately. "I'm sure Hexed and Phoenix will be inseparable once he opens up some."

|..|It's nice to meet you, too the lass replied with equaled sincerity before turning her attention to the two colts. Smothering a giggle, she smiled instead at the two attempting to introduce themselves. Hi Tori, hi Hexed she spoke up, remembering the two from earlier. And hello Phoenix. Grinning she fell into silence, content to watch the colts for a moment before turning to head back to the beach. Good bye!|..|

Silven flicka turned her attention to the other colt. ~~Well guys, looks like you two found each other. Guess you don't need me anymore. Bye!~~ She sniffed and pretended to hold back a fake tear. A game she had played with her brother and it alwasy made him laugh.

Quiksilver Storm -- SilverStar, 11:15:46 07/22/03 Tue [1]

Sterling filly canters near, her gait swift and fluid, yet with an effortless grace that shows she is gifted with the fleetness of foot not granted to many, the pace is fast as the wind, yet it is obvious that this is a very slow pace for her. Slender sooty pistons seem not even to touch the ground as she whirls near, a flash of silver, a flying, dancing stormy sea of bright quiksilver. Her exquisitely dished, tapered face is held high, frothy strip glinting like the foam of the sea. She slides to a smooth halt and tosses the delicately chiseled dial, midnight streams swirling and tumbling, the rapids of a inky river. Her dark pools holding that untameable stormy fire flick to the colt at DOL's side. With a clear silven whinny she welcomes the little colt to the world, and congratulates his mother, triumphant for the once-again new mother. For, no matter how many foals you have, are not they all unique and new? She smiles gently at the foal and says softly in her clear tones, ~Hey little guy. What's your name?~

The amber mare couldn't help but approach her half-brother... -- Steel Destiny, 14:38:45 07/22/03 Tue [1]
With a look of decided interest in her soft mocha eyes she gently scoots her way into the inner circle of the crowd, eyeing the roanish foal with delight. "'Scuze me," she said shyly to Tori, eager to get a closer more inspective glimpse at her newest blood-relation.

Sneeze -- Phoenix Ashes, 00:12:10 07/23/03 Wed [1]
The colt cocks his head slightly at the filly that had sniffed. As if prompted by the thought of sniffles, he sneezes lightly, knocking himself a step back. Recovering, he looks around sharply to see if anyone had noticed, debating whether or not to retreat back to under his dam's belly. Instead, he repeats the last word he had heard said, since it was repeated twice. "Bye," he says faintly, having no clue what it really meant. Name? His mother's gentle words ring inside his head. Your name is Phoenix. "Phoenix," he answers proudly, lifting his chin a margin higher. His dam's whiskers tickle his raised ear as she whispers the identity of the newest arrival. He shifts his attention to her, walking a step closer. "I'm your sister, Steel Destiny," he informs her loudly. A smothered laugh from Daughter of Light causes him to lower his head and finish lamely with the one thing he could be sure to get right. "My name is Phoenix."

Return? -- Daughter of Light, 16:43:00 07/23/03 Wed [1]
The mare, surrounded by a cloud of horses and foals, suddenly turns. "He's back," she says quietly. Abruptly, she nudges her colt before her and gallops down to the sandbar, the main access to the island.
