The stuff Reilly did...buried alive, possession, drowning pool were a novelty in daytime in the 90's. Although it got a lot of buzz, it pissed off a lot of fans and really, the best Reilly ever did was come close to beating Y&R on exactly one week. Now that his stunts are commonplace on NBC, I don't know how much he can help Days. Sure the ratings will probably go up with his newest stunts but I think it'll only be a shot in the arm vs. a real cure. Unfortunately Reilly's "good ideas" are paired with his penchant for horrible execution. His characters are flat and one dimensional. He throws all history out the window to serve his latest storyline purposes. His storyline take forever to unfold (some plot point never get explained). And his dialogue is silly and tedious. Now if this is Reilly's best for one soap, just how is he going to split himself into doing two AND keep up the "quality" of both?? Couple this with your statement that NBC is taking more control and it leaves me to think that the NBC soaps are doomed. Cuz we all know that a 5 year deal doesn't mean Days has to stay on for 5 years. NBC has out clauses so I guess we'll see what comes of all this.
