I was diagnosed with RSD about 1 1/2 years ago. Although, I've been having ankle pain for years. I was told it was arthritis, then weak ankles. I had surgery about 2 1/2 years ago to correct what the doctor called "weak ankles". I told him if the surgery wouldn't stop the horrible pain in my right ankle to cut my foot off. He thought I was joking. I have lived with it for so long and felt like people didn't believe me. The doctors always seemed to think they could give me pain meds. and they should work. They didn't. My primary doctor has been good about referring me out to specialists. I now see a pain specialist, but I'm not having a lot of luck. The RSD is now in both feet, ankles, and lower legs. The right one is by far worse. The left, meds. usually help. It is very depressing. My family doesn't seem to understand. I have a 13 year old step-daughter that was throwing a temper tantrum and shut my right ankle in her bedroom door. This happened 3 1/2 months ago. I'm still on crutches. Doctors say, I may never get off of them. I am going through sympathetic nerve blocks every week. I take neurontin, ultracet, and trazodone every day. If needed, I take darvocet. Darvocet doesn't seem to help at all. Does anyone have any advice or something else I could try. I live in almost constant pain. You can e-mail me at my home e-mail if you'd like.
