Subject: SNL Author: chrystynne [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 03:08:08 10/19/03 Sun i must admit, i haven't watched it in a LOOOOONG time. i only tune in sometimes for performances. last night was the first night in a long time that i watched a few of the skits. omg, i barely recognize some of the cast! it would've been okay if the skits were funny but wtf? i felt so awful for Halle Berry. well, i really tuned in because of Britney. i missed the beginning monologue but i did catch her performances. Me Against The Music: when i first heard this at the Superbowl show, i must say i remember hating it. either it's grown on me or they changed it a little bit but i actually like the SNL version. it's very catchy and it's more bass-driven this time around. i also love Madonna's part in it. the choreography is a bit similar to some of Brit's past, i guess you can say it's a bit recycled. i didn't really mind since Brit is mesmerizing whatever dance movement she does. as for the lip-synching? i don't see why everyone gets upset over it. she always does this whenever she does a fast-paced choreographed number, you'd think we'd be used to this by now. i can honestly say that i will never see her do a rigorous dance number and sing live at the same time in my lifetime. Everytime: i had some trepidation regarding her upcoming cd but after hearing "Everytime", i am so gungho about getting it now. wow, i really, really LOVE this song! it's so simple, sweet, and sad. i love the arrangement(piano, violin, harp) as well as the lyrics. i just can tell it's gonna be huge. this is also the very first time that i actually like a Britney ballad. her performance wasn't flawless but it was definitely one of her most vulnerable and one of her finest, by Britney standards. i loved it so much that i've rewound and played my tape over and over since the show aired. people are definitely gonna wonder if it's about Justin. my opinion? it WAS about him prolly when it was written but i don't think the song applies to the present anymore. the girl's moved on(well, i sure hope so because Justin was not a gentleman, LOL). anyway, i got the file at britneybits.com. for now, here are the lyrics(not sure if they're accurate) but judge for yourself: Come notice me and take my hand So why are we strangers when our love is strong? Why carry on without me? Chorus: And everytime I try to fly i fall without my wings i feel so small i guess i need you baby and everytime i see you in my dreams i see your face it's haunting me i guess i need you baby i make believe that you are here that's the only way i see clear what have i done? you seem to move on easy Repeat Chorus (something not very clear and audible) please forgive me my weakness caused you pain and this song's my sorry(not sure if correct) at night i pray that soon your face will fade away Repeat Chorus after all... after all... it's a very beautiful song. it's the best Britney ballad ever. it's gonna be huge. Glenn 13:40:02 10/19/03 Sun it's really a good song. not a put-down but just merely stating a fact: it could've been more incredible if a better singer performed it. -- chrystynne, 22:00:31 10/20/03 Mon ok, i downloaded it. my impression is, the lyrics are great along with the music. however, you are absolutely correct that somone OTHER than her should do this song which is a shame. britney just doesn't have the vocals for it. the SNL performance was ok though. overall, good ballad. maybe the one on the cd will sound different. what do you think chrys? -- Glenn, 14:31:02 10/21/03 Tue completely agree with you Glenn. just imagine the possibilities if XTina or Kelly Clarkson or Mariah sang it, wow, it would've been perfect.Brit's not a great vocalist and will never be in the same league as those 3 in terms of that. silly me, i still adore her along with the other 3. yup, i hope the cd version is better, less vocal tics and mistakes. -- chrystynne, 19:53:59 10/21/03 Tue actually chrys, i think only kelly clarkson could pull this song off. i highly doubt mariah still has the vocal range (if you've noticed as of late, she does the whispery voice too much) and christina would do too many rips and probably annoy the hell out of me. of the three you've mentioned, my vote goes to kelly. it's kinda sad though because when the real song from the cd comes out, they're going to enhance a few things here and there to make britney sound "good" lol! -- Glenn, 22:45:32 10/21/03 Tue i haven't heard Mariah sing lately. i always have my 80-90's image of her. you're right, XTina would embellish more. -- chrystynne, 03:36:22 10/23/03 Thu I miss SNL sense I don't really watch it all that much, Yup Me Against The Music when I first heard I liked the beats a lot once I heard it on the radio it was a good song I didn't really like the Madonna's part in the song, I thought it sounds better with just Britney.
