    MARK NO OFFENSE MEANT OR INTENDED ! I always get my panties in a wad when I am told or read of prices without a explanation of the product/labor offered. Especially when quoting a price or giving information. The truth is, most guys for whatever reason think a head that flows 340/360 is too small for them...LOL In actuality a engine that "needs" a head that flows that much would probably have a hard time running on the street. {my case exactly} I have learned my lesson more than once that the old saying " bigger is always better" has NOTHING to do with performance, reliability, and more to do with ego, and being incorrectly informed. {not that you did either} The points I was trying to make is BRODIX is a well known and respected mfgr. They designed and made these heads. They list them at the specs I had listed. Other than opinions they make an good quality product. Like all others DART, MERLIN, EDELBROCK, and even the 3rd world countries that seems to be offering thier junk we all have our preferences. You truely get what you pay for. Everything doesn't work well on a particular item just because it bolts on. BTW I did have the heads flowed as well as the combustion chambers CC'd once I recieved them. I wanted to make sure the chambers were still @ 119 after the CNC work was done. Its all right on the money @ Brodix's specs.
    As far as my engine guy, well he is 70 yrs. old, his main stream of business has been Hi Perf engines for a lil over 40 yrs. He should {and does} know what he is doing. What other idiot would or could build a SBC engine, put it in a 4240 lb. truck, make sure the a/c, cruise, radio, full exhaust, etc still functions as OEM intended {no cat converters} and makes it go 8.80's on a regular basis....LOL Anyway I surely meant no offense. I do NOT know what parts you were pricing nor do I know what your labor is. I shudda just let it go, but it sounded to me like you were telling the guy the heads would cost too much to assemble. I guess after 40 yrs. with the same guy, I get treated a lil better than some. GREAT SITE and I hope it continues to be a source of info and parts !!!!

    What is this suddenly a pissing match?He asked me what I thought of the heads.I wasn’t saying not to buy them or that they were a bad deal.I figured in what it may cost in the end to have a ready to run bolt on head after buying these.You are going by what a description of these heads “could” flow & a suggested cubic inch to use them on.Did you have them flowed?Did he say what cubic inch he wants to put them on?I’ve seen heads flowing more than 360 on 454’s thru 509’s,but as stated there are variables in each application.You said bare heads $1200 correct??..I'm saying after you buy valves,valve springs,retainers & locks,then get a valve job done...then depending on whether you use screw in studs with guide plates,or choose a shaft mount rocker system,how much would you have in them then?The choice of shaft mounted rockers can run up the price of buying just the rockers,but screw in studs & guide plates ad to the cost of head assembly.So Ed,how much for these heads complete ready to run? $1200 is good for these new un-used bare heads yes,are you saying my quote ready to run was too high?Glad your builder is smart.

    Not so sure I understand what Mark said ? I mean considering the folks that make the heads suggest 509-555. Pending bore, stroke, & compression. Maybe thier flow bench is screwewd up ? Seems to me that 360 cfm out of the box is "REALLY" more than what most BBC have the ability to use. Of course if you just need to tell all your buddies that you have a set of alum heads and they flow 360 cfm that is. But when your engine runs like crap then you can blame the heads, {for being too big}. Take the time and compair flow #'s, and your particular configuration with your builder or online at just about any head mfgr. site. My guy says they are too big. Then again whats he know after 40+ yrs. of building race engines. As well as racing a 4240 lbs. steel PU truck with A/C, P/S. cruise, full exhaust and a SBC? He can't be all that talanted, smart, or expierenced. All this time I thought he knew what he was doing considering that truck runs 8.80's all day long. But what do I know. I am sure Mark is correct. Just like his estimate on valves and springs. He must have been pricing titainium valves, Jesel shaft system, and K1 springs...LOL

Flow 360 + cfm. 119, 2.300, 1.880, 340 runners. Project changed course and these heads are too big for the new engine. Looking to sell or possibly trade for a smaller runner 312/320.     I'm selling my 1968 Camaro, VIN 123. It has a 350 engine(late model) with vortech heads and a Competition cam "mutha thumper cam". The car has a small stall, with spool and 4.56 gears in a 10-bolt rear. It currently ride on chrome rally wheels. Newly install carbon fiber race seats. $6500

    And the following:
    - new gas tank
    - new carpet
    - aluminum intake with 4 bbl
    - 350 turbo trans with shift kit
    - long tube headers
    - Harwood fiberglass hood
    - stock flat hood

    I have other parts that I may sell also. B&M 142 blower, Brodix heads -10 aluminum heads, MSD distributors, aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, MSD dist, new body parts etc.

    The bad: need drivers door rust underneath and driver side quarter. Both could be repaired or replaced.

All front brackets have been media blasted and POR15 treated, sheetmetal has been stripped, etch and filler primed, {maybe be missing L/F fender} all NEW sheetmetal is made by GOODMARK. Which includes 2 full size 1/4 panels, tail light panel, rear lower valance, 4" cowl hood, exterior rear window deck, 1- rocker panel. Roof and trunk lid have been stripped, etch and filler primed [no body work needed}, extra set of pristine doors have been stripped, etch & filler primed, the dash has never been cut, all window channels are rust free,has several sets of door glass, and rear windsheild but front is cracked, NEW Superior 2" drop spindels, I have boxs & boxs of parts that go along with it, such as NOS tach, right side NOS grille, and much more. The price does NOT include but the new owner has 1st offer to buy at a discounted price a Chris Alston rear frame rail {ladder bars}kit, which includes the bars, mounts, 15 x 14" rims, shocks and springs, I am sure there is more that I am forgeting.
