Subject: Task 13


According to Littlewood, the activity I have in mind can be classified as ‘Processing Information’ because the students will have to organize an activity by themselves and then reach a decision about it but there will not be lack of information. The activity would be an expedition from Viçosa to BH to an Art Museum (I have done it before, only it was a show of paints from a friend in a galery).

The activity would have to be divided into 3 parts and all are done by the students:

1 – The arrangements that have to be done so the trip can happen. Some of their ideas can be:

- if they rent a Van or use 2 or 3 of our own cars and divide the price of gas,
- if a Van is to be used, call the rent a car company and verify prices, what kind of Van it is, how many seats ...
- how long the trip lasts to go and to come back,
- if the entrance to the museum is free, what time they open/close,
- what items are wise to take with us (camera, sweater ...)
- which would be the best day for everybody.

2 – Who would be responsible for execute each of the tasks above (everybody has to do something to help).

3 – Report what they have found out to the rest of the class and reach a decision (how much is going to be for each person, who will collect the money ...).

I think that this activity will give to the students an opportunity to communicate purposefully and besides practicing the language they have already acquired, they will have some more to learn.
