Analyze the lesson plan "Buy a Car" by Karlys Wells, using Ryan's text as reference.
According to ryan's text "Overcoming Common Problems Related to communicative Methodology", I could conclude "Buy a Car" by Karlys Wells is a good lesson plan.
First of all, Ryan tells us bout a framework, which needs to have the following: warm-up, presentation, controlled practice, free practice, and feedback.
Warm-up is "all the factors to consider" when buying a car. Karlys gives us suggestions for increasing the class brainstorm: "Divide the ideas into logical categories, for instance, body styles, frequency of repair, safety rating, condition, and fuel efficiency. After that, students are integrated at the main purpose of the lesson plan, "Buy a Car" - what general factors enter into a decision to buy a vehicle? How can resources and a decision grid be used to make choices about a specific set of vehicles?
The decision-making phase contais a good presentation. It is suggested that students create a spreadsheet which will list vehicles followed by theis characteristics.
After this presentation, students consult with each other in the area of theis expertise. It is a kind of controlled prectice. Each student writes a summary in word processing of his or her reserch findings and how they were used in the comparison of actual cars.
I see the item analysis as a free practise when students will justify their choice of vehicle to their classmates, citing how well the vehicle meets the criteria selected and how they used the knowledge gained from their consultation with a classmate "expert".
Feedbach is showing us as students using processing or desktop publishing, create a collaborative list of buying car, to share with each other and to be placed in the library for other students to use.
Therefor, I think "Buy a Car" is an excellent and correct example of lesson plan second Ryan's text.
