Task 14

Communicative language tests are those that make an attempt to test language in a way that reflects the way that language is used in real life situation. According to Kitão, the productive skills can be used as incentive and the perceptive skills can be used as response and both have to be measured during evaluation. In real situations, for example, a dialogue, the learner need to used both, not one isolated to the other.
Indeed, the productive skill (speaking and writing) is frequently associated with perceptive skill (listening and reading). It is very hard to make language tests communicative, because the real life situations it is not to evaluate. If students are encouraged to study for more communicative tasks, this can only have a positive effect on their language learning.
