Hi people,
I think that portfolios are very useful to teachers keep the students interested in the points studied at classroom. Students will do tasks and collect them. As teacher in will help the students in choosing the topic that will be studied. The students will be able of perceiving their improvement in the language. Moreover portfolios are used to students collect and reflect about the material that they are collecting. So, they will stay close to the topics suggested to the teacher and study these topics.
Evaluating a portfolio is not easy. I think that one way is to evaluating with good marks. It can be 20% of the total marks. It is a work done in all year or semester. So, the students must fell recompensed by their work. Another point to be observed is how much material each student is collecting. Finally, it must be observed the student’s improvement in its own portfolio. I think that work with portfolios always bring good results because the student will reflect about the material and the subjects that these material talk about. In this way the student will stay in contact with the language and he/she will study every week. So, he/she will learn in a continuous process.
