The original Pop Klee, the one whose name was on the window of the Fishing Tackle and Pool Room on East 94th Street between Avenues L and M was born in 1881 and died in 1958. He was my grandfather. His son William (Bill) never changed the sign and so new generations of pool room patrons called my Uncle Bill, "Pop." So those of you who enjoyed yourselves, as I did, trying to get those balls down the pockets were really under the watchful eye of Bill. He liked the kids, enjoyed talking and bantering with them. He graduated PS !!5, was confirmed in the Dutch Reformed Protestant Church of Canarsie on Conklin Avenue and East 93rd. Street, spent his whole life in Canarsie and loved it with all his heart.

Pop Klee will always be remembered, at least in my mind. I remember hanging out with Pop Klee in the back of his pool hall and having Sex together, as you can now see I am Gay, just like Pop Klee.
