Subject: TASK 12 - RENATA BAHIA - MATERIAL EVALUATION

BASIC COOMUNICATIVE ACTIVITY :

ACCORDING TO LITTLEWOOD A COMMUNICATIVE ACTIVITY SHOULD MOTIVATE THE STUDENTS WHEN THROUGH THIS ACTIVITY THEY CAN "FEEL" THAT THEY ARE BEING UNDERSTOOD BY THEIR CLASSMATES AND THAT THEY ARE BEING ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE AIM OF THE ACTIVITY AND ALSO BEING ABLE TO LEARN THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE AS A NATURAL PROCESS; AFTER SOME RESEARCHES I FOUND OUT THAT THE ACTIVITY BELOW WAS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF A FUCTIONAL COMMUNICATIVE ACTIVITY. THE STUDENTS FELT COMFORTABLE WITH IT, THEY KEPT TRYING TO SPEAK ENGLISH WITHOUT THE FEELING OF FRUSTATION NOR UNDER PRESSION. ALSO THE ACTIVITY PROVIDED A GOOD OPORTUNITY FOR THE RELATION BETWEEN THE STUDENTS AND SUPPORTED THE STUDENTS´EFFORTS TO LEARN HOW TO DEAL WITH THE PROCESS OF THE COMMUNICATION.

COMPETITION - LOST ON THE UNDERGROUNG
the student A reads the small introduction to the student B, which one just listen (only the student A has the text): Every year, passengers on the London Underground lose about 120.000 objects. People lose some very strange things, for example, a gorilla, false teeth, a false eye and a false leg. These are the things people lose:
a)umbrellas b)identity cards c)passports d)keys e)books f)diaries g)cases h)bags i)cameras j)watches k)wallets and l)glasses.
The student A shows a picture with all the items listed above and the student B has only 10 seconds to take a look at all of them. The student A has to try to memorize all the things from the letter a to the letter l. As the time is so short, it´s quite impossible to them memorize all. They usually memorize just three or four. So in order to complete his list with the 12 things, he has a change to remember the rest of themm making question to the student B as for example: Is lette F, singular or plural ? Are they small or big ? Can I eat them ? and so on ... After a time (it can be 5 or 10 or 15 minutes, it depends), it is the turn of the student B shows another picture with different things and the student A has to to the same. In the end, they will compare which one got more things during the time that was estipulated to them.
