Cooking class

A communicative approach I used to use with my students at Fisk was the cooking class. Every month we used to select an English speaking country regional recipe, gather in the kitchen and divide into groups and each group be responsible for some part of the recipe, for example, some group would be responsible for buying the products, some for the preparation, mixing, oven temperature, silverware, seasonings, etc, and everybody was ready for the preparation of the recipe, the students would give their opinion of which dish it would be, giving opinions of how that dish would be improved and giving extra recipes that would go with the main one. finishing giving their opinion about the taste and flavor of the dish, saying if something had gone wrong, what it was and how not to commit the same mistakes again.
