ANSWERS TASK 5

To compare the two texts and give your own opinion about how language is acquired.

Firstly, I would like to say that I didn’t to read the Krashen’s theory at that address suggested by you, because it hasn’t worked. However, I found some commentaries about it in another sites and I use them here. Analyzing the texts that comment Krashen’s theory and Fractal model of Language Acquisition, I could notice that they are two different ways of explaining the language acquisition process. Vera’s text presents us a theory in which the learning process is a complex system. As the students learn in a different way, it’s necessary different methods of teaching. In this view, we can’t discard any theory, “...but instead to unite them...”, to use them in complete process of teaching. In Krashen’s theory the students improve and progress when they receive “inputs” and these are added to their knowledge.
I have studied another subjects about teaching and learning and I always thought as what it suggests Vera’s text, that is, the best way of teaching would be when the teachers get to unite all the methods and to apply them in classroom. In my point of view, each method has its importance and they cannot totally be substituted by another that appears, which they are considered more modern or more completes. Thus, I think the language is acquired through a complex process and the teachers' participation, applying the appropriate teaching method is one of the main contribution for the development of the learner.
