Subject: TASK 6

Describe the design of a prototypical communicative course.
First of all, a communicative course must consider student's needs , preferences and objectives. Teachers must be aware of what kind of audience the class is adressed to. By this way, effective communication becomes the main objective of the class. In order to achieve this effective communication, a class can have actions designed especially to help and 'seduce' the students. Language is mainly acquired through interaction and also through the teacher.
Thinking about types of learning and teaching activities in a Communicative course, they are focused in the ability of students to interact and communicate, requiring negotiation and sharing information through language. Another important aspect is that translation is not anymore a taboo, then native language can be used to facilitate learning.

TEACHER AND LEARNER ROLES
The learners must participate as an independent participant, searching for practice the language.
On the other hand, teachers must parrticipate as a facilitator among all participants in the classroom. The main objective, communication, must be preserved all the time.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The material used in communicative course should be authentic reading, including magazines, readers, Internet pages, newspapers, anf things like that. Listening can be about ‘real-life’ situations or about texts that bring relevant information, for instance, an important and polemic subject . Other kinds of midias and equipments, such as videos, DVD’s, computers and displays are also very important and useful for this kind of course. Furthermore, pictures, photos and posters, can create an adequate environment for discussion in class.

Finally, the interaction between teachers and students is also very important in a Communicative Course and must be close to confidence, teachers must give directions to students to focus on their own styles of learning.
