ANSWERS TASK 7
Analyze the following lesson plan having Ryan’s text as reference.
Analyzing the lesson plan “Buy a car”, according to Ryan’s text I found some important aspects of communicative approach, which I would like to comment here. Using the considerations of Ryan’s text, this lesson plan brings clear goals for students develop the project proposes by Karlys Wells, when it gives step by step what they will make. In terms of communication and considering that “The communicative Approach in its pure form advocates making students speak as much as possible”(Ryan), the students are invited to speak, because they will discuss all the possibilities in order to buy a car, “For example, body styles, frequency of repair, safety rating, conditions, and fuel efficiency” (Karlys wells). We also find a Framework well developed, because we notice that the project is divided in parts, where the students have awareness of what to do in each moment.
Another interesting point in this lesson plan is the context in which it is inserted. Talking about cars it’s always an actual subject. We can find cars in advertisements on TV, on outdoors and in front of us in the streets, all the time. In sum, cars make part of our lives. So, as in communicative approach we need “...making our classes meaningful, practical...” (Ryan) and interesting to motivate the students, I conclude that this lesson plan is a good example of activity to apply in classroom.
I would like to criticize just a point, I didn’t find in this lesson plan a moment for the teacher’s feedback. Perhaps it’s implicit and will be given by the teacher according to the difficulties, the measure that the doubts appear.
