Subject: It's in the blood.

Tay competed in her first youth rodeo last night. It was an SRCA open rodeo. Because of her age (7), she had to compete in the mutton busting. She wanted to start on calves even though Ryan and I tried to explain to her that it was probably best to start on sheep. We figured it would be her first and last time as Tay can be a bit foo foo girly at times and timid. She drew up first and did a real good job for her first time, but scored out of the money. She really wanted to win because she wanted to use the money to ride more rides at the county fair. To my amazement she came running over to ask if she could enter again. Of course she couldn't. Then she got a little mad because another kid was awarded a reride. "That's not fair, I want another ride too". Needless to say she doen't get the concept of a sport that allows do overs. This morning she was scoping out the event listings, and asking if we could take her to a bunch of events. I asked her if she liked it because ryan and I did, or because she really enjoyed it. Her response..."Mom it's soooo coool!".
SO, admittedly I'm one proud mama today. The only sad thing is that I was so into rooting her on, that my video of the whole thing, MISSED most of it.
Tay and Caity both got into the calf scramble at the end of the night. Somehow they both came out winners. Not sure that Caity actually took the ribbon off the calf, but in that melee who knows.
