Subject: 信用卡利率

本人今天(７月13日)看到閣下在明報的專欄 <關目> 談及 "信用卡利率"一文後非常有同感，因此希望你能繼續利用你在明報或其他刋物的專欄教育大眾。
事原我十多年前初加入銀行工作時，為了想計算一下信用卡的利息，專誠以身試"息"，到期時只繳交5%的最低付款額，誰知...，結果當然是被嚇一跳，還以為是銀行出錯，查詢下才知道這個"陷井" 的秘密。
自此，在過去十多年來，我不停在身邊的朋友"宣揚"這陷井，雖然我知道"真相"已多年，而這個跟信用卡一同誕生而鮮為人知的事實亦存在多年，但令我震驚的是，本人身邊的友人(除了是工作上曾經涉及信用卡或資深的銀行家)沒有一個知道此事！他們當中不乏專業人士如律師、會計師及財經界人士等，幸好他們都是"舖舖清"一族，所以未中過招。
但很多人，特別是那些喜歡先用未來錢的年青人，胡亂簽卡，到期只繳付部份卡數，以為利息濕濕碎，往往會不自覺地跌落"負債擴大"一族，連未畢業的大學生都要申請破產！
最近美國運通對中學預科生做了個理財常識問卷調查，調查結果令人非常失望。其中一位中六女生尤令我印象深刻，她說："乜錢唔系用來洗的嗎？我從來唔儲蓄的，因為父母每月都有零用錢給我，用完咪問他們再攞過囉。"！
順帶一提，近年很多財務機構的電視廣告的理財意識非常差，常鼓勵欠卡數的人士將卡數轉到他們的公司，因為他們的利息較低(若是事實，這點絕無問題)；但畫面所見，那位少女常瘋狂購物，但一收到信用卡月結單卻大為苦惱；忽然靈機一觸，原來可將卡數全數轉到XYZ財務公司...跟著結尾這句對白就最"攞命"了:"敢..以後我就可以唔洗再擔心簽卡買嘢喇！"。而類似的同類廣告，内容雖不同，但意識卻一樣misleading!!!
